About Julia

Hello, I

My interest in pedagogy and human functioning grew out of my career as a professional dancer.

I first encountered the Alexander Technique while studying at the University of Surrey. It was later in Paris, where I took classes with Gilles Estran, that I truly experienced its transformative potential not only in my dancing but in my daily life.

The practical benefits became particularly clear when I successfully completed a dance tour while recovering from Achilles tendinitis. This convinced me that the Alexander Technique was a valuable resource not only for dancers but for anyone interested in improving their habitual movement patterns and approach to everyday activities.

Subsequently I undertook a four-year professional training in the Alexander Technique and qualified in 1999. During this time, I met David Gorman, founder of Anatomy of Wholeness and LearningMethods. His work had a profound influence on my understanding of human structure and function, as well as on my pedagogical approach. His insights also helped me explore many of the challenges I had experienced as an artist, including self-criticism, perfectionism and lack of confidence.

After several years of apprenticeship with David Gorman, I became a LearningMethods teacher in 2007.

Currently I teach both at the health clinic of the Pôle National Supérieur de Danse in Mougins, France, as well as at Centre Ostara in La Colle sur Loup and work with pupils from a range of backgrounds and experience.
